#WEEKENDDRIVES #1 - DONNYBROOK VIA BOYANUP (30MINUTES FROM BUNBURY)

It's around this time of the year when the short, chilly days start. Therefore it's the perfect time for a day trip; get on the road with the kids with destination Donnybrook in mind.

Follow the signs from Bunbury to Donnybrook via the South Western Highway, stop along the way to take in some quirky secondhand curios stores in Boyanup. French Brocade store Rustic French serves morning tea as you wander through their unique French finds.

If it also happens to be the last Sunday of the month check out the Boyanup Farmer's Market - meet the farmers of the freshest produce from the region.

Back on the road, wind your way through the hills. You'll know when you get to Donnybrook, the Apple Orchards that line the main road beg you to stop and pick up some delicious roadside bargains from their farm shop!

If you're into a bit of vintage and antiques spend some time rummaging through Gingergold's Vintage.  This fantastic store shows the owner's years of experience and love of eclectic clothing and furniture. And PS: I found the BEST jacket and boots here last year!

If the kids are ready to burn off some energy Donnybrook Fun Park is the place to set them free. Located on the right of the town, it's hard to miss.

Let them loose in the enclosed area with climbing equipment and structures that will keep them entertained for hours.  There's a café located opposite the park for coffee and a snack as you consider your options for lunch.

Donnybrook has an amazing array of culinary delights, many of which we have tried (all in the name of research…obviously.  So here's the locals go to guide:

The Village Restaurant – Meet Christopher the Chef, who has honed his skills to bring you a modern Asian style that you will leave you wanting more. We had – Chicken Wings, Thai Fish Cakes, Asian Short Ribs and Village Style Fried Rice.  We also BYO'd a local favourite wine from Barton Jones.

Donnybrook Bakery – always a great quick stop for an old school meat pie!!

Barton Jones Winery – a beautiful relaxing cellar door, wine tasting, with the option to stay for a platter of locally sourced cheeses and condiments.

We shared the platter and a cheeky glass of 2016 Rosé..
